Hot indoor gardening trends in 2016 advance natural air filtering houseplants that detoxify the indoor environment and whose phytoremediation serves as organic air fresheners, according to Costa Farms LLC of Miami, Florida.
Justin Hancock, horticulturist at the third-generation family-owned business founded in 1961 on 30 acres (12.14 hectares) by José Costa Sr., broaches 16 natural air filtering houseplants. He comments that “It’s surprising how many household items release VOCs into the air” and that phytoremediation can be realized “especially in newer, more energy-efficient buildings.” He describes “harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including formaldehyde, benzene and xylene” as the powerful challenges that find their nemesis in 16 natural air filtering houseplants.
The Client News on the website for Garden Media Group of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, finds Costa Farms’ 16 natural air filtering houseplants economically, mentally, physically beneficial. It gives the economic advantage of convenient installation, easy maintenance and reasonable cost of introducing the hot indoor gardening trends in 2016 in the garden indoors. The 16 natural air filtering houseplants have the added benefits of acting as “natural humidifiers” and of “reducing frequency of headaches, sore throats and stress levels.” Moisture release by natural air filtering houseplants is “part of their natural breathing process” that cancels “situations where forced-air heating can make conditions desert dry” indoors.
Sixteen phytoremediators join together to bring “a touch of nature indoors” and “a wealth of benefits, both physically and psychologically.”
Costa Farms keeps access on their website to all of their plant information simple and straightforward, with a link from the home page to the phytoremediators. They list as “super-easy” Madagascar dragon tree (Dracaena marginata), moth orchid (Phalaenopsis), peace lily (Spathiphyllum), pothos (Epipremnum aureum), red aglaonema (Aglaonema) and spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum). They mention snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata) as not only “super-easy to grow” but also unique among the 16 natural air filtering houseplants in low water needs. They note that 15 of 16 natural air filtering houseplants have medium watering needs whereas 10 tolerate high, low and medium light in the garden indoors. They offer croton (Codiaeum) as the only one of their 16 natural air filtering houseplants to require exclusively high light.
Anthurium (Anthurium), dieffenbachia (Dieffenbachia) and fig trees (Ficus) prove to be the only three of 16 natural air filtering houseplants to be intolerant of low-level lighting. Calathea (Calathea) and Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema) qualify as the only two of 16 natural air filtering houseplants that cannot tolerate high-level lighting in the garden indoors.
Corn plant (Dracaena fragrans ‘Massangeana’), dracaena (Dracaena) and English ivy (Hedera) remain location-tolerant, unlike anthurium, dieffenbachia and Madagascar dragon tree, whose humidity-loving preferences emphasize bathroom locations. The section on 16 natural air filtering houseplants suggests complementarily house-planting arrowhead plant, baby’s tears, dendrobium, earth star, glowee, nerve plant, rosary vine and ZZ plant.
Hot indoor gardening trends in 2016 tackle economically sensible and environmentally healthy concerns with Costa Farms’ natural air filtering houseplants.
